Lilian Greenwood MP chairs first Midlands Engine APPG Transport subgroup
Parliamentarians from across the region gathered to discuss key transport issues including the Integrated Rail Plan with Chair Lilian Greenwood MP, featuring a presentation from Midlands Connect
On 3rd November, the Midlands Engine APPG hosted its first subgroup on the theme of transport. Ahead of the upcoming Integrated Rail Plan, the discussion was focused on maximising and accelerating the benefits of high speed across the region. Chaired by Midlands Engine APPG vice-chair Lilian Greenwood MP (Nottingham South), APPG members heard from Midlands Connect on Midlands Engine Rail. This £3.5bn programme of rail upgrades and interventions would improve local and regional connectivity for passengers using the released capacity from HS2, and link up local towns and cities to the proposed HS2 stations including Birmingham Interchange and Toton in Nottinghamshire.
